About Me?

Good question.

I’m an artist who’s called Minneapolis home since 2012. My work starts with a curiosity toward art as a stand-in for the gaps we can’t close as humans — how language, gesture, and representation can discipline our emotions into architectures that strain to mean something. That tension has shaped my work across music, theater, and writing for more than a decade.

From 2012 to 2016, I published over a hundred articles for the Minnesota Daily and served as its Arts & Entertainment Editor, sharpening my eye for performance and suturing my heart to the Twin Cities arts community.

By 2015, I began releasing music as a founding member of the Florists and later Products Band. Together with my solo work, these projects have since released more than ten albums and EPs between them. As a primary songwriter, lyricist, and performer, I’ve built a catalog praised by outlets such as The Current, Atwood Magazine, Racket, Brooklyn Vegan, and Midwest Action for its sharp wit and inventive arrangements. Along the way, I’ve shared stages with artists like Gang of Four, Deerhoof, The Suburbs, DEHD, Guerrilla Toss, Peel Dream Magazine, and Water From Your Eyes.

In 2019, the Cedar Cultural Center commissioned me to create Serious Glee, an evening-length multimedia work I wrote, composed, and staged with a team of designers, puppeteers, and musicians. I combined original music, poetry, projection design, and puppetry to examine identity and its destabilization in the crisis-blender of the United States.

My practice extends into teaching as well. I’ve led acting and devised theater workshops at Tulane University, Florida State University, and the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, where I shared the framework Eric Larson, Neva Dalager, and I collaborated on to create original performances from 2016-2020.

Today, I work as Program Director at the Southern Theater, booking local and national acts. I continue to tour the U.S. and play music in the Twin Cities on stages like the Fine Line, 7th St. Entry, Turf Club, or your backyard. This site is my latest project: a home for my writing and a message board built to keep conversation alive outside the corporate social media matrix.
